logo_mental_floss- Starting this week, I am now a weekly contributor at Mental Floss. Every Wednesday, I’ll be highlighting new comic book releases as well as new digital comics and new (or newish) webcomics. Mental Floss is a great and extremely popular website and I’m really excited to be bringing their first comics-related feature to the site.

I write a little more about the new gig over at my blog.

- HeroesCon is coming up really soon. I’ll be at Table 1015 in Indie Island. I’m really excited about this spot because it’s in a block with some really great cartoonists like Dustin Harbin, Evan Dorkin, Peter Bagge (!!!), Mike Maihack and a bunch of others including my friend and comics writer Christian Sager who highlighted some other folks in the area. I’ll be selling Nathan Sorry volumes 1 & 2 and my AlphaBeasts postcards, most of which I’ll have at Heroes for the first time.

- I’m also going to be moderating another panel about Graphic Design in Comics at this year’s HeroesCon. Details are still coming together but the last one I did two years ago was really well received and I hope this one will be even better.

Nathan Sorry Vol. 2 Now Available for Pre-Order

Nathan Sorry Volume 2

The second volume of Nathan Sorry is on its way to the printer and can now be pre-ordered (and if you haven’t picked up Volume 1 yet you can order that as well) over at my online store: http://nathansorry.bigcartel.com/ I’ll begin shipping these out in September and it’s going to be a pretty limited run so order soon. If you’re going to be at SPX next month, I’ll have them there along with my brand new AlphaBeasts postcards. I’ll be at table W64.

Nathan Sorry Volume 2 collects pages 64-117 (Chapters 5 and 6) of the webcomic in a handsome black and white collection. It’s only $9.99 plus shipping.

If you prefer comics of the digital variety stay tuned. I’ll be selling both volumes in PDF, CBZ and ePub format for reading on various mobile devices and will announce that in the coming weeks.

HeroesCon 2012

This is a piece that I am donating to the annual HeroesCon Art Auction that is taking place this Saturday. I will be making my third appearance at this show in the Indie Island section (Table AA-447) where I’ll be selling Nathan Sorry Vol. 1, Animal Alphabet Flash Cards and some AlphaBeast prints and a print of the Emma Frost piece I did for the auction last year. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get Nathan Sorry vol. 2 done in time for HeroesCon but I hope to have it ready for SPX in September.

Also, I’ll be appearing on a panel on Saturday at 5pm about Webcomics with Danielle Corsetto, Tom Scioli and Rich Tommasso and hosted by Dustin Harbin.

If you’re in the Charlotte area and haven’t been to this show yet, come check it out. Even if you’re not particularly a comic book fan there are a lot of great artists to meet and buy original art from especially at the Saturday night auction over at the Westin. If you are a fan, this is the 30th Anniversary show and there are going to be some amazing guests like Stan Lee, Mike Mignola, Jaime Hernandez, Neal Adams and more.

Server Hackyness Today

If you visited this site earlier today and either received a warning message about malware or were redirected to some sort of video site I apologize. This website (and others I maintain) got hacked this morning and I’m still dealing with restoring everything. I got Nathan Sorry back up and running as quickly as possible and hopefully it won’t happen again but things could be touch and go for the next couple of days while I get everything in order again.

Nothing that was going on here should have been a security issue for visitors to the site by any means but I just hate to have the site become inaccessible or – even worse – act in a way that seems strange or inappropriate especially on a high-traffic new page day.

It’s a good reminder for everyone out there to backup your webcomics and blogs regularly.

New page will be a little late this week

Suffering from a post-Halloween hangover today. Overdosed on Mike & Ike’s and peanut butter flavored Snickers bars. This week’s page will be a little late but look for it in the next day or two.

Baby Delay

Miles Alexander Barrett was born this Sunday and he and Mommy are doing great! As a result, his dad’s webcomic will be missing an update this week but should be back next Tuesday regardless of how little sleep he is getting.
