Just want to apologize to those of you that check in on a weekly basis looking for a new page. The end of summer has been making it tough to knock out the pages and I’m expecting Labor Day Weekend to be another kink in the works. Good news is that I haven’t really been longer than 2 weeks per page, so that’s not bad. Though I strive for a weekly schedule, I think semi-weekly is not too shabby.

Well, after a little site downtime today I’ve managed to launch the new site design today. It was a little more tricky than just creating a new theme as I had to completely restructure the site in order to more properly use the Comicpress manager to serve up my pages.

As a result some of the permalinks for certain pages have changed and I think I lost one or two of the most recent comments to the site.

There’s still a few things to tweak but hopefully we’re on stable ground here. Let me know if you see anything weird.

Just want to say a quick hello and thanks again to all the new readers coming in from Warrenellis.com. We’re 16 pages into what will be a multi-chapter, probably 200+page story so there’s a lot more to come. I’m on vacation for a week right now but plan on getting the next page up the following week and from there will hopefully get myself onto a 1-page per week schedule to make it easier for people to follow the story on a regular basis.

I consider Nathan Sorry a “living document”, in that anything is fair game for me to go back and change or improve upon. I plan on using this space to notify readers of any of these changes as a way of being transparent but I also don’t plan on doing it a whole lot if I don’t have to. I mean, I’d love to redraw so many panels in the first chapter and someday I will have to but I can’t let myself go backwards right now.

Something I felt I really had to do though was change one panel on page 3. Originally, the first panel of the page, which shows a quick flashback of Nathan passed out in bed was colored in a gold yellow rather than the greenish blue I use for every other panel. My thinking had been to use the yellow to help cue the reader that these panels were flashbacks. But then on page 13, the next time one of these flashback panels came up I decided that I just didn’t like how this color looked in large amounts. Plus, I’m not sure I really plan to use one-panel flashbacks as often as I might have thought. There’s going to be a lot of flashbacks in this story (we’re in one right now) so I don’t think I need a visual cue other than the change in scenery, clothing, hairstyle, etc to tell the reader what’s what.

My next potential big change might be rewording some of the dialogue in the first chapter. You don’t know how many times I’ve already rewritten that scene but as I go along minor details of certain things, like Pryor’s plan, wind up changing. So it’s possible at some point I might change that first conversation but it won’t be anything major.

I won’t even get into the typos I just went back and fixed. Or the ones I probably haven’t even noticed yet.

First of all, thanks for checking out Nathan Sorry. But in case you’re wondering who or what Nathan Sorry is then let me give you the brief overview of what I’m doing here.

Nathan Sorry is my first graphic novel and it is very much in progress right now. Being a full time art director and – in the past year – a full time dad I have very limited amounts of time to spend knocking out pages so I aplogize if updates are few and far between. As I’m writing this I’ve completed twelve pages of the book and frankly it’s taken me a couple of years to get to this point.

The good news is I’ve written the entire story so I know where it’s going (though I full expect any of that to change as I go along). The other good news is that with the current economy being in DownturnVille I might have more time over the next year to make some good progress (but hopefully not too much time. I’m not looking to trade off my job for this).
