Next weekend is HeroesCon (June 3-5), my favorite comic book convention to attend and one in which I will be appearing for the second year as a guest. I’ll be in the Indie Island section though table numbers have not been posted yet so I do not know exactly where I will be. I’ll update this post with that info later on.
I will be selling brand new copies of Nathan Sorry Vol. 1 which collects the first 64 pages of the story in a nice trade paperback format. That will be $8. I’ll also be selling the new Sketch Charlotte Anthology for $2. This collects a variety of short comics done by local Charlotte cartoonists as well as a 3 page special preview of Nathan Sorry. Here’s a peek at it:

For the first time this year I will probably do some sort of orginal piece of art at the convention that I will donate to the auction that takes place either Saturday night or during the day on Sunday. Content of that artwork TBD (ideas are welcome!)
Plus, I will be on a panel Sunday afternoon at 2:30 called THE WEB COMICS: Solo Shocker with other webcomic cartoonists Tom Scioli, Drew Weing and Jay Potts. Here’s the description:

I’m also scheduled to be part of a special Sketch Charlotte panel/meeting at 3:00 but since those two things overlap I don’t know when I’ll make it to the Sketch Charlotte one.
Most excitingly I will moderating one of the coolest panels of the whole weekend on Saturday at 1:30pm:

Designing Comics
Room 203A
What is it that draws your wandering eye to one particular book on a shelf that is brimming with loud, look-at-me, multi-colored covers? It is the design of the book that makes that first impression count. Join cartoonist Rich Barrett (Nathan Sorry) as he dissects the art and function of Design with some of the most important and innovative names in the business: Jonathan Hickman (FF, The Nightly News), Chris Pitzer (all things Adhouse) Matt Kindt(Superspy) Drew Weing (Set to Sea) and Jim Rugg (Afrodisiac)

Those are some seriously amazing guys I will be talking about design with. It’s going to be a huge honor to lead that discussion.
Here’s the rest of the HeroesCon schedule: http://www.heroesonline.com/heroescon/schedule/
If you’re coming to HeroesCon try to make it to those panels. If not, they will most likely be podcasted by The DollarBin at some point in the future.
Also, please stop by my table and say hi and check out the new book.
UPDATE: I’ll be at table AA-429 in the Indie Island section. There’s a PDF of the floor layout here. My table is indicated as 29 in the 400 block: http://www.heroesonline.com/heroescon/index.html
