New Portfolio Additions

I’ve been a little lax with updating this blog recently but it’s not that I haven’t been busy producing work. Just too busy to show any of it off. But I’ve vowed to start making the blog active again and I have a number of items of news to talk about in the coming weeks.

So, to start off I figured I would update my design portfolio on richbarrettdesign.com with some recent projects I’ve done. AAA Vacations and Wharton School of Business are the two new additions. Plus I updated the image for Minyanville.com. This is the third time I’ve updated this particular image because it is the third time I’ve redesigned their site in the past few years.

The Aesthetics of Web Apps on ReadWriteWeb

I was recently interviewed among a handful of other designers by the website ReadWriteWeb.com about designing web apps. It’s a really interesting read, especially I guess – since the article is aimed at them - if you’re a developer or an entrepeneur who may not think first about aesthetics. I’m introduced as the “veteran” creative director which I guess means I was the old guy in the group.

The New Minyanville.com

A months-long project just reached the end (of it’s first phase, at least) this Friday when the new, redesigned Minyanville.com launched. This is probably the biggest website project I worked on as far as the depth of content involved and it was a nice challenge to design something so content and information focused.

This will be an evolving website and I’m already looking ahead to some phase 2 updates but for now here’s the new Minyanville.com.

Just in time for Groundhog’s Day

One of my regular ongoing clients at Mass Transmit is Rain-X. I designed their website and recently we made some updates to various sections of the site to prepare for Groundhog’s Day which is the time of year that Rain-X encourages you to change your wiper blades.

This is actually the first of two website I have launching today. I’ll post more about the second site once it is safely live.

Mass Transmit Holiday Card

It’s not too often that I do print design but I recently designed a holiday greeting company for my employer, Mass Transmit, to send to all their clients. I’m really happy with the way it came out. It’s the kind of idea where everything just came together. Brand integration into the imagery as well as perfect content integration since the point of the card is to say that Mass Transmit was making a donation in the clients name to the Children’s Aid Society.

This has just been added to my design portfolio over at richbarrettdesign.com where you can see the inside of the card as well as many other projects, inside and out.
