Woody Allen so needed a change. Here he changes almost everything about how he has been making movies. Gone are the bloated casts impersonating Woody Allen characters. Gone is the wholly imagined Upper East Side backdrop that only exists in Allen's movies. Still there but properly tweaked are the adulterous couples and the partner swapping. This time there is an added darkness and danger to the adultery that Allen hasn't displayed since the brilliant Crimes and Misdemeanors. The performances are all great here from the thankfully smaller cast, especially Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. The London setting is a nice stand-in for Manhattan and frankly it just doesn't seem like a Woody Allen film which is how it takes you by surprise and continues to surprise you til the end.
Yeah, We've been wanting to see this real bad. I've heard only good things. Being a huge Allen fan I'm hoping to see it before it leaves the local theatres.
Peace,
