« Scott Pilgrim: Precious Little Life - Bryan Lee O'Malley

Another book by O'Malley, this one earlier and more introspective but still with a quirkiness that keeps it from being too navel-gazing. As Scott Pilgrim captures the sensibilities of an early 20-something, Lost at Sea nails some of the confused and abstract feelings that a typical 18 year old goes through. The main character, a girl named Raleigh, is confused about being in love as she is caught in that period of time between high school and university. She travels aimlessly on a road trip from California to Toronto with some friends and as she mulls over her life thus far she begins to wonder if her soul has been taken from her by some of these damn cats she keeps seeing everywhere.
O'Malley's simple cartoony artwork is beautiful and near sublime in some panels. The story meanders as aimlessly as the characters but that's exactly how it should be.
