Night Fisher - R. Kikuo Johnson »
I'm a little surprised this movie came to our conservative little city but I'm even more surprised that all the opening night shows were sold out. This was really quite an amazing movie and is so much more than the mocking label "the gay cowboy movie" denotes. Beautifully shot by Ang Lee and filled with great performances by everyone involved. The movie just felt important because in being so emotionally effective and avoiding so many of Hollywood's cliches about homosexuality it was accomplishing something that no other movie has ever done. And in this age of the Conservative Agenda, that's a pretty big deal.
