Quinlin's Growth Comparison »
A competant film noir dark comedy directed by Harold Ramis of all people. It clicks all the usual film noir checkpoints: protagonist with a skewed moral compass, somewhat colorful cast of supporting characters, night time setting, vague heist plot used only to move the story along, femme fatale in Veronica Lake haircut filmed with light shining across her eyes.
The film is being marketed as somewhat of a Bad Santa-style holiday film because Billy Bob Thornton is in it but he really doesn't have that much screentime and aside from a few laugh out loud scenes with Oliver Platt it's not really much of a comedy. But it's a good light weight crime picture with a good cast led by John Cusack.
