The melancholy pacing of this film literally put me to sleep for the first hour yet I didn't seem to miss anything pertinent. It seems odd to say that this movie makes spelling bees boring (anyone who has seen Spellbound would forget this is possible) but it does just that by mixing in kooky special effects, a little bit of the Kaballah and some Hari Krishnas.
