The hardcover edition Ice Haven by Daniel Clowes collects into a new format probably the greatest single issue of any comic ever made, Eightball #22. Some new scenes have been added but otherwise this is basically a $4 comic repackaged as a $20 book. It's worth it though.

Clowes tells the story of a small middle-american town, it's inhabitants and the dark secrets they keep. It's all about how he tells the story. Each character gets a 1-2 page comic strip style vignette, each one illustrated in a style that matches the tone of the character. Things get really fun when he tells the story Ice Haven's first resident, a caveman named Rocky and a violent day in the life of a little boy's stuffed bunny rabbit.
