The Constant Gardner: A »

Constantine: C+

Based on the comic book character, John Constantine, this film replaces the character's signature Britishness with Keanu Reeve's signature spaciness. I've not read many "Hellblazer" comics (of which Constantine is the star) so I'm not as offended by this adaptation as some would be. That said, though this has a few good moments and some pretty cool special effects, it pretty often falls into typical occult mumbo jumbo. It's the type of things I don't usually have much of an interest in trying to follow.
Keanu stretches his acting skills a little by dramatically smoking cigarettes. Rachel Weisz tries to add a little psychological heft to her role. It's all forgettable though.
