Though I really didn't enjoy Yimou Zhang's last movie "Hero", I found this one more to my liking. The story kept my attention more and the visual were more lush and technically brilliant. My problem with both movies is that they are a little overwhelming to sit through and the cgi effects sometimes take me out of the movie. In "Hero" the scene that epitomized that problem was the millions of arrows flying through the air and you can see each one and the camera follows them and so what. SFX masturbation is what that is and it happens a few times here and there in this one as well.
