This recent Nicole Kidman film is known for (and sunk in the box office because of) a scene in which she takes a bath with a naked 10 year old boy. It really is a daring, and unusual film - at least until the twist at the end takes the wind out of the concept a little, at least in my opinion. It's about a boy who shows up at Kidman's door claiming to be her husband, who died 10 years ago. Her character is in a fragile state and it doesn't take long for her to let herself believe that her husband has come back for her. The young actor who plays the boy plays him with such intensity, however, that you have to wonder what it was about her husband that she loved so much. He didn't seem to be much fun to be around.
Anyway, whether or not you believe in the concept of reincarnation, something else happens that makes the story in some respect more interesting, but in my opinion more difficult to buy.
Still, it's a beautifully stark, cold, and creepy film.
