This week's comics »
I really learned a lot about the process of a comic artist from this book. It's a series of interviews with a number of top professionals - like Frank Miller, Bryan Hitch, Jim Lee and others- dissecting their way of working. Each artist has their own process even if only slightly different from another. I definitely picked up a few tips that I hope to incorporate into my own work soon.
What's amazing is how most of these guys go from an extremely rough stage directly to the final artboard stage. It kind of makes sense though, drawing something more than once only scribbles the life out of the drawing. I guess that shouldn't be too surprising. It just takes confidence though.
