A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius - Dave Eggers »

Identity Crisis #7 The big finale is a big letdown. This was one of the scenarios I had predicted a while back just based on who the possible suspects could be. Frankly, some of the wild speculation on the internet was much more interesting than this outcome. The way the suspect is taken care of is a bit odd and the issue ends leaving some unresolved plots that I assume will be taken care of in other comics that I never planned on buying. Oh well.
The final scene was actually very touching, but this ending leaves me with a sour feeling about the whole series.

Ex Machina #7 So I'm a little confused. Are they trying to establish some ambiguity about Mayor Hundred's sexuality? Was he doing it on purpose in his conversation with Journal? It would definitely make an interesting character even more interesting if he turns out to be gay. We'll see where this one goes.

Human Target #17 I found the last arc to be kind of lackluster but this one-shot is back to the usual psychological intrigue I expect from this title. Plus, one of my favorite artists, Cameron Stewart, stands in here and fits in perfectly with the book's style.
It makes sense to have Christopher Chance's issues with identity develop into a form of sexual disfunction. I think this book is at it's best when it explores the lead character's slightly askew psychosis.

Shaolin Cowboy #1 Beautifully horrific drawings by Geoff Darrow. This is my first exposure to his work and really picked this up just for the art. There's a bizarre slow pan across a crowd of misfits that goes on for about 4 pages. Definitely a story that just showcases the art. However I admit to being intrigued by the ending so I might come back for #2.
