I is for The Imp, Tyrion Lannister

The Imp, Tyrion Lannister
I is for The Imp, Tyrion Lannister
from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series
I chose to depict the Imp as a man about to do battle, like he is in his shining moment in A Clash of Kings, stepping up to defend King’s Landing. Looking at the drawing once I had done it though I realized that this is not what the character is about and it makes him look like your more run-of-the-mill grappling dwarf character from some sort of Dungeons & Dragons inspired tale. Tyrion is truly up there as one of my favorite characters ever and probably should have been depicted in a way that shows his wit but I’m not sure what that would be. I’m actually pretty happy with how this drawing came out anyway.

I had originally toyed with the idea of doing all Game of Thrones characters for this alphabet project. It’s actually possible I think to find a character from that series for each letter of the alphabet. The reason I chose not to though was that even though I’m currently in the middle of reading the books I’ve also started watching the HBO series and my own vision of the characters has pretty much been wiped clean by the actors that are portraying them. I’d have to fight that with each drawing I did.
